Filter Maintenance

Your sediment filter is essential for maintaining proper water flow and consistent cooling performance.

Over time, debris such as hair, skin particles, dust, and environmental contaminants can accumulate and restrict circulation.

For most users, the filter should be replaced approximately every 10–14 days, depending on frequency of use and surrounding conditions.

Regular replacement helps maintain strong water movement and allows the chiller and pump to operate efficiently.

If water flow becomes restricted due to a clogged filter, the cooling system may be forced to work harder than intended.

Reduced circulation can contribute to excessive internal ice buildup within the heat exchange system and increase long-term wear on mechanical components.

To ensure proper system performance and protect your warranty coverage, only genuine ORCA Replacement Filters should be used. Use of non ORCA filters may result in reduced flow performance and may void the manufacturer warranty.

 

Checking Water Flow

The strength of the water returning into the plunge is one of the easiest ways to monitor overall system health.

If you notice the flow becoming weaker than normal, it is often an indication that there is a restriction somewhere in the system.

In most cases, reduced flow is caused by a dirty or clogged filter.

Inspect the filter, hoses, and fittings to ensure there are no blockages or kinks limiting circulation.

Maintaining strong, consistent water flow helps ensure stable cooling performance and reliable daily operation.

 

 

Maintaining Proper Circulation

Your ORCA Cold Plunge system is engineered to operate within a specific circulation range that supports efficient heat exchange and temperature control.

When proper flow is maintained, the system can cool water effectively while minimizing strain on internal components.

Consistent circulation also helps distribute sanitation treatments evenly and improves overall water clarity.

 

 

Water Sanitation Routine

Maintaining proper water chemistry helps keep your plunge clean, clear, and safe for regular use.

A simple sanitation routine can be completed in just a few steps.

  1. Add Sirona Simply Oxidizer (hydrogen peroxide) directly to the tub — approximately 2 ounces — and allow the system to circulate for about 15 minutes.

  2. Add Sirona Simply Sanitizer (salt-based) — approximately 0.5 ounces — and allow the system to circulate for another 15 minutes.

  3. Check the pH level to ensure it is within the recommended range of 7.2–7.8.

    If the pH reading is outside this range, add a small amount of Sirona Spa Up or Sirona Spa Down to adjust accordingly.

We recommend using a Digital pH Meter for more accurate readings, as test strips can be difficult to interpret.

Regularly replacing your sediment filter (approximately every 10 to 14 days) will also help remove debris such as hair and skin particles, supporting proper water flow and system performance.

Sirona water care products and digital pH meters can typically be purchased through online retailers such as Amazon or pool supply websites.

 

 

Daily Ozone Use

Every ORCA chiller includes an integrated ozone sanitation feature designed to help maintain cleaner water between manual treatments.

Running the ozone function at least once per day can assist in reducing organic contaminants and supporting overall water clarity.

When activated, the ozone cycle will automatically run for one hour before shutting off on its own.

Do not enter the water while ozone is running.

Always wait until the ozone cycle has completed before using the plunge.

How to Use Ozone

Ozone can be turned on or off directly through the control panel or the mobile app. The water chiller must be powered on in order to access and activate the ozone function.

Contro Panel

Tap the Ozone button (O₃) on the right side of the control panel to turn Ozone on/off. You will see the O₃ symbol on the top of the home screen when active. It will run for one hour and automatically turn off. 

Mobile App

Open the mobile app and tap the Ozone Switch to activate or deactivate ozone. You will see the O₃ Indicator on the top of the the home screen when ozone is running.

Important Note

Ozone is intended to support your overall maintenance routine and should be used alongside proper filtration, water treatment practices, and regular visual inspection of water quality.

 

 

Monitoring Overall Water Condition

Regularly observe water clarity, odor, and system performance.

Cloudiness, reduced circulation, or unusual noise may indicate that maintenance or filter replacement is needed.

Developing a consistent maintenance habit will help extend system lifespan, improve reliability, and enhance your overall cold plunge experience.
